Do I need a Visa to enter Malaysia?

Malaysia offers visa-free entry for nationals of many countries and territories for short-term visits. The permitted duration of stay varies depending on nationality and may range from 14 to 90 days.

To check whether you require a visa to enter Malaysia, please visit the official Immigration Department of Malaysia website or the official eVISA portal:

Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC)

Effective from 1 January 2024, most foreign nationals entering Malaysia are required to complete the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) online within three (3) days before arrival.

The MDAC is not a visa. Travelers who require a visa must still obtain the appropriate visa before entering Malaysia.

Submit your MDAC here:

Who Requires a Visa?

Visitors from countries that are not eligible for visa-free entry must apply for a visa before traveling to Malaysia. Requirements may vary depending on nationality, duration of stay, and purpose of visit.

Generally, applicants may need:

  • A passport valid for at least six (6) months
  • Completed visa application form
  • Passport-sized photographs
  • Proof of accommodation
  • Return or onward flight ticket
  • Supporting financial documents
Please consult the nearest Malaysian Embassy, High Commission, or Consulate for the most accurate and updated information.
