ABOUT THE WEBINAR

Survivorship involves the transition from childhood adversity to life after treatment, a chapter that negotiates the attempt to form a connection between adaptation in this trajectory, engagement in life activities, late effects, uncertainty and self care strategies.

The consequences of adversity can last decades but they don’t have to. By learning self care skills, one will be able to manifest a regulatory physical, emotional and behavioral mechanism that are essential in preventing the decline of one’s well being and promotes resilience to the challenges that confront.

In this webinar, you will learn:

  • About self care as an essential tool for self regulation
  • To be empowered with the fundamentals of self care
  • Ways to bounce forward in times of challenge and crisis

SPEAKERS

MAIN SPEAKERS

Sasha Annabelle Pereira

Senior Staff Nurse, National University Hospital
Paediatric Blood & Marrow Transplant Nurse

Sasha has been paediatric oncology nurse since November 2011. Through her meaningful career of journeying with the children and teenagers, she has learnt that the most essential need of any human in their most vulnerable moment is self connection and human connection.

It’s her personal journey of recovering from nasal surgery in 2014 and experiencing the somatic symptoms of burnout in 2019 that led her to the path of an in depth self care practice. When away from the clinical setting, Sasha spends time researching on the mind-body connection, the body’s innate ability to self regulate and the role of self care for sustainable wellbeing.

In 2020, Sasha’s led several webinars on Self Care for healthcare professionals; for her colleagues as well as partnered with organisations such as Safe Space and Asia Institute of Mentoring in creating awareness on the importance of prioritising self care.
